Treat people like human beings, not political abstractions.
Exploring the first principle of the Theory of Enchantment
Treat people like human beings, not political abstractions.
This is the first principle of Theory of Enchantment. But while this may seem easy to do, it's not.
What does it actually mean to be human? When's the last time you really thought about this question?
When's the last time you contemplated what it means -- and how it feels -- to be alive? When's the last time you expressed gratitude for the air you breathe?
All inclusion work begins with this practice: Give thanks for the totality of who you are, flaws and all.
If you can give thanks for the totality of your being, you won't project your insecurities onto others.
You won't use others as a scapegoat to cope with your own pain and suffering.
You will respond to the suffering of others compassionately --because you’ll be practicing responding to your own suffering with compassion.
And this is one of the essential pieces of being human: we are a species that experiences profound pain and suffering.
But unlike other mammals who shake stuck energy out of their bodily systems, we tend to sit all day living sedentary lives in front of our computer screens.
So we don't know how to discharge our pain and suffering. We were never taught how to do this.
We haven't take time to learn our nervous systems, befriend the contractions and expansions in our bodies, and breathe from the diaphragm.
We don't take time to co-regulate or take command of our emotions.
We have been taught to suppress our emotions, be ashamed of our bodies.
So we walk around with dense, stuck energy that metastasizes and turns against us.
With nowhere to compost this energy, we project it onto others. And this is the source, the seed, the bija, of all supremacy, polarization, and dislike of your fellow man.
It is nothing more than a reflection of your disdain for your self.
The secret to reversing this is to practice loving yourself. And though this may sound easy peazy or hippy dippy, it's actually hard AF.
Hundreds of years of Puritan conditioning has taught us to view ourselves as depraved, wicked, and worthy of hell.
But you must love your light and love your shadow. Love the sensations in your body as they rise and fall and befriend them.
Love your expansions and your contractions. This is nothing more than the life force flowing through your body.
Love and give thanks, every day, every minute, every second, and every hour.
If you do this, if you take up this practice, you will benefit everyone in your community. They will notice your inner peace and wonder how you do it?
And they will want to join you in your practice. This is how it works.
Because life is fractal. As above, so below. As within, so without.

Hi Chloe. Black Buddhist Mama, here. Glad to see you feeling better again. I registered for Weds with the hopes there will there be a recording as I always had a conflict. Will there be one?
Yes! Lovely Chloe. "Treat people like human beings, not political abstractions."
I love that your work helps to show people the value of paying attention to what's happening in their body, their field in "this here and now."
I'm going to see if I can share this so anyone subscribed to my Substack can see what you're offering.
